| Twister amps was founded by Jade Lowrey in a small town outside Dayton Ohio in the spring of 2003. A guitar player by aspiration, a machinist by trade, and an electronic, and mechanical tinkerer at heart. Jade started building simple electronic circuits around the age of 8 in the local 4H club. While the other kids were raising rabbits, Jade was building electronic projects to take to the county fair. Fast forward many years, and Jade found himself repairing, and tweaking most of the tube amps of many of the top local players in the Dayton area. After countless repairs, and mods on every type of tube gear possible Jade noticed the same problems, and complaints about the gear that the local musicians currently owned, and set out to see what he could do about "Building a better mouse trap". The first Twister amps were faithful reproductions of the classic 1959 tweed Bassman. Twister still offers these amps as the F1 series, and is one of our most popular models to date. Although the Twister approach was not to alter the original amps signature circuit dramaticly, there were small but significant alterations done for the sake of reliability, and bringing the amps power supply filter capacity up to a more suitable level for use with todays higher output guitar pickups without losing the characteristic sound of the amp. The success of the F1 led to the introduction of the F2. This amp was not a clone of any production amp that had come before, yet was loosely based on a famous 18 watt British amp. At this time, Jade was building amps in a very expensive way. Buying parts in extremely small quantities, and in may cases one part at a time. Because of this, the first Twister amps were priced noticeably higher than they are today. Starting around 2006, work began on two new amps that would eventually become the F3, and F4. Also around this time Jade started buying parts in bulk which cut costs considerably, and we've passed the savings on to you. Amp sales have steadily grown, and we appreciate your business, and your passion for great tone. We're proud to have you as part of the Twister Family. Twister Amps is still a small company, building one amp at a time, with the same passion that we started with. We hope we can serve you, and help you find the perfect tone that you've been searching for. |
